School Security and Education Technology Solutions

Empowering Education with Advanced Technology Solutions

Sebastian designs and installs school security systems, access control, classroom AV, campus networks, and the electrical infrastructure behind them for K-12 schools, colleges, and universities across Fresno, the Central Valley, and California. From a single elementary school to a university campus, we bring education technology solutions and the construction trades to install them under one contractor.

School Security Systems

School security works best as layers that support each other, not as a single product. Sebastian designs and installs school security systems that combine:

  • Access control for exterior doors, offices, classrooms, and restricted areas, so staff decide who can enter and when
  • Video surveillance covering entrances, parking lots, hallways, and common areas, with recorded footage administrators can review
  • Intrusion detection for after-hours protection of buildings, labs, and equipment rooms
  • Emergency communication, including panic alarms and mass notification systems that reach staff across a campus quickly

Every system is designed around how the campus actually runs: bell schedules, visitor check-in, after-school events, and the staff who will manage it day to day.

School Access Control Systems

School access control systems replace keys with credentials that can be issued, changed, or revoked in minutes, which matters on a campus where staff, substitutes, and contractors change constantly. Sebastian installs access control for schools that includes:

  • Scheduled locking and unlocking that follows the school day, so exterior doors aren’t left open by accident
  • Centralized lockdown capability, so administrators can secure doors across a building or campus from one place
  • Card, fob, or mobile credentials for teachers and staff, with audit logs showing who entered which doors and when
  • Coordination with fire alarm systems, so access-controlled doors still allow people to exit safely

Classroom AV Systems

Classroom AV systems only help if teachers can use them without calling for support. Sebastian designs and installs projectors and screens, interactive displays, classroom audio and voice amplification so every student can hear, and simple controls that make switching between a laptop, document camera, and video easy. For lecture halls, gyms, and multipurpose rooms, we scale the same approach to larger sound and display systems. Learn more about our commercial AV systems.

Campus Networks, WiFi, and Fiber

Every piece of education technology depends on the network underneath it. Sebastian installs structured cabling for classrooms and offices, wireless access points for campus-wide coverage, and fiber backbones that connect buildings across a campus, including underground runs between them.

At Fresno State, Sebastian upgraded the east communications loop near the equestrian center, improving wired and wireless connectivity for that part of campus, and the university brought us back for a campus-wide access point project. See our low voltage installation and IT services.

School Electrical and Site Work

As a school electrical contractor, Sebastian handles new construction, modernization, and site work for schools and colleges: electrical systems and lighting for new buildings, lighting and controls upgrades, site and parking lot lighting, and the underground trenching that carries power and data across a campus. We work alongside general contractors and other trades on new school projects, and directly with districts and colleges on upgrades. See our commercial electrical services.

Education Projects

We are extremely appreciative and impressed not only with the work Sebastian has completed at Fresno State so far this year, but also the flexibility and commitment. We continually hear great things about Sebastian and are very excited to work with us on a new campus wide Access Point project.

Working on Active Campuses

School projects come with constraints most commercial work doesn’t: students on site, fixed academic calendars, and work windows that often fall during summer and breaks. Sebastian plans campus projects around those windows, coordinates with district facilities and IT staff, and keeps work areas separated from students and staff when school is in session. For public school districts and colleges, we’re set up for public works procurement, from licensing and registration to the documentation agencies require. See how public agencies should vet a contractor and our guide to low voltage cabling procurement.

Education Technology FAQ

A school security system should include layered protections that work together: access control on exterior and interior doors, video surveillance for entrances and common areas, intrusion detection for after-hours protection, and emergency communication such as panic alarms or mass notification. The right mix depends on the campus layout, how visitors are managed, and who will run the system day to day.

School access control systems use electronic locks and readers so doors open only for authorized credentials, such as staff cards, fobs, or mobile phones. Administrators can set schedules for when doors unlock, lock down doors from a central location, and see a log of who entered which doors and when, without rekeying locks when staff change.

School projects can be scheduled around the academic calendar, with the most disruptive work planned for summer and school breaks and other work phased so classrooms stay in use. Sebastian coordinates schedules with district facilities and IT staff before work begins.
Public school and college projects are part of Sebastian’s work, including fiber and cabling at Fresno State, electrical and lighting at Sacramento City College, and new construction at Hillside Elementary School in Madera. Sebastian is licensed by CSLB and set up for public works procurement.
Classroom AV systems from Sebastian include projectors and screens, interactive displays, classroom audio and voice amplification, and simple controls for switching between sources, scaled up for lecture halls, gyms, and multipurpose rooms.
School projects from Sebastian cover Fresno, Clovis, Madera, and the wider Central Valley, as well as the Sacramento region and education projects elsewhere in California.

Plan Your Campus Project

The best time to plan a school technology or security project is well before the work window opens. A walkthrough with your facilities or IT team lets us understand the campus, the existing systems, and the schedule, so the proposal fits both.
